The school accepts pupils first time during the September following their fourth birthday, in accordance with the LEA policy. In accordance with the County Admissions Policy, all applications must be submitted by March 1st and by the end of March and sent a letter confirming receipt of the child or not.
At Duo we recognize the fact that young children have already started learning well before coming in early education. In the early years, learning develops faster than at any other time. The children need time to play, to reflect, to repeat, and to talk with peers and adults. At Duo we try to plan experiences that will extend this learning and curriculum planning cosco period that is appropriate cosco for the child's learning.
Interests, ideas and experiences cosco form the basis of the early years curriculum and given a high profile to learn through play. Pupils are taught in a light and spacious learning environment and provided with activities that will stimulate their learning and increase their knowledge and understanding of the world. They are encouraged to use their senses, explore natural materials and working together, sharing ideas and resources.
The class is a pleasant and friendly learning environment where pupils are encouraged to work collaboratively with adults and peers. Valued and encouraged their views and display their work in the classroom and around.
We know that joining a new school can sometimes be a worrying experience. We will do all we can to assist you with the process. If you want to apply for a place in Duo then you need to contact the School Secretary, who will arrange an appointment with the Head.
If you are considering applying for a place for your child at our school, then please feel free to look around during or after the school day. You are advised to make an appointment to ensure that time will be available to answer any questions you may have.
Children who register for our Breakfast Club arrive at school for 8.00am, enjoy a nutritious breakfast in the school hall, and are supervised by staff play the Breakfast Club until 8.50am.
Children who choose not to attend the Breakfast Club arrive at school between 8.50am cosco and 9.00am, and are supervised by the teachers, who will endeavor to make themselves cosco available at this time to deal with any day to day issues cosco or queries you may have.
The parents have a legal responsibility cosco to ensure that their child attends school on time. It will be late or absent continuously adversely affect your child's learning as well as teaching their classmates. Any child who misses the staggering immediate disadvantage. Please check that your child arrives at school before 9.00am.
We ask that parents of younger children to accompany your child to the Nursery and Reception class entrance at the back of the school, where the class teacher is ready to greet the children from 8.50am. Older children may stay in the yard without parental supervision. Parents are asked not to accompany their child to the main building, cosco however the Secretary's Office is open should the parents need help.
At the end of the school cosco day, the younger children are accompanied to the gate by their teachers and school will dismiss your child only when they can see you or the nominated carer. Older children can walk or cycle home unsupervised. Children who use the school cosco buses will be escorted to the bus by the teachers.
